Our Journey

2010 - 2011

The Genesis: Fact File

Our story began in the Objective-C era with Fact File. While the world was obsessed with data-mining, we were building standalone, offline-first knowledge apps. No tracking, no login — just content delivered directly to the user.

2011 - 2013

The Viral Era

Captured the early App Store zeitgeist with a series of viral soundboards including Ted Williams and Tiger Woods (earning us our first "badge of honor" DMCA takedown). This era taught us the power of owning your platform and staying independent.

2014 - 2019

The Android Resistance

Took a deep detour into the Android ecosystem. We spent years meddling with custom ROMs and root-level toolkits like XPrivacy and AdFree. Working under-the-hood to block data-hungry SDKs solidified our belief that privacy is only possible when software is built without hidden backdoors.

2020 - 2024

Ecosystem Expansion

Returned to the Apple ecosystem to leverage privacy-focused hardware. Developed Defndr (offline SMS filtering), iQuake, and Maphrodite. We proved that high-performance apps don't need to "phone home" to be useful.

2025 - Present

The Multi-Format Future

Dro1d Labs is evolving into a cross-media studio. We are blurring the lines between software and storytelling with the release of interactive book-apps and experimental gaming.

Projects like NullKit exemplify this shift—merging deep technical utility with long-form content. Whether we are shipping a lines-of-code or chapters-of-prose, our "On-Device" philosophy ensures the reader and player remain the sole owners of their experience.

Who We Are

> /company/README.md

Dro1d Labs is a multi-disciplinary independent studio. We've been building for iOS since 2011.

Our current roadmap expands beyond utilities into Interactive Literature and Privacy-Centric Gaming. We believe the future of content is decentralized and offline.

From NullKit's hybrid app-book experience and SMS Protection to Astrocartography, the surface differs—but the DNA remains: No cloud, no tracking, no compromise.

Outside of the digital lab, we spend our time caring for street cats in Bangkok and Ireland. Empathy and responsibility extend beyond the source code.

Our Principles

Privacy First

Privacy isn't a feature—it's the foundation. We design every app to work 100% offline with zero data collection. No analytics. No telemetry. No tracking. Your data stays on your device, always.

Open Source

Many of our apps are open source and publicly auditable on GitHub. Transparency builds trust, and we have nothing to hide. Inspect our code, contribute improvements, or learn from our implementations.

Beautiful Design

Security and privacy don't require ugly interfaces. We obsess over details—from typography and spacing to animations and interactions—creating apps that are both powerful and delightful to use.

No Dark Patterns

No manipulative popups. No confusing settings. No tricks to extract money or data. We respect your intelligence and your time. Our apps do what they say, clearly and honestly.

Performance

On-device processing means lightning-fast performance with no network lag. Our apps are optimized to be responsive, efficient, and battery-friendly. Speed is a feature.

User Respect

We treat users like intelligent adults. No paternalistic nonsense. No forced onboarding. No nagging for reviews. Install, use, enjoy. That's how software should work.

What We Don't Do

> /company/RED_LINES.md

No Ads

Zero advertising networks. Zero tracking SDKs. Zero monetization through surveillance.

No Analytics

We don't measure your behavior. We don't track your usage. We have no idea what you do with our apps.

No Cloud Lock-In

Your data never touches our servers. Because we don't have servers. Full stop.

No fingerprinting. No cross-app tracking. No "anonymized" telemetry. No bullshit.
